Hearing scheduled for Kansas City funeral home in trouble, possibly facing disciplinary action.

A hearing is scheduled for a Kansas City funeral home, Savory and Sons, in June following allegations of a second probation violation. The funeral home has faced issues due to an unlicensed worker handling funeral arrangements, violating state guidelines that require a licensed funeral director to supervise services. The funeral home initially operated without a license, leading to a probationary period with specific terms for three years. However, a violation in July 2023 extended the probation, with further violations including failure to renew licenses and lack of supervision of arrangements. In March 2024, a woman reported not receiving her father’s remains after two months, with all communication done through owner Frank Savory, who is not a licensed funeral director. A hearing set for June 10 could result in more disciplinary actions against the funeral home. The funeral home has temporarily paused new services and is cooperating with authorities. Efforts to reach Savory for comment have been unsuccessful.
