Two or more lives lost as storms sweep across the South to the Northeast


A 12-year-old boy and a woman were killed in Oklahoma after their vehicle was swept under a bridge during a severe storm with large hail and strong winds. Police in Moore, Oklahoma conducted a water rescue on Saturday night, saving two occupants but unable to rescue the other vehicle that was swept away. Nearly 30 severe weather reports were received on Saturday, including two unconfirmed tornadoes in Texas. On Easter Sunday, storms were expected to move east, threatening 11 million people in Arkansas, St. Louis, and Illinois with damaging winds, large hail, and possible tornadoes. The National Weather Service warned of flooding across Arkansas and Missouri, with up to 7 inches of rain possible in some areas. Over 100,000 utility customers in the South and Northeast remained without power as of Sunday morning. The threat of severe weather and flooding continued through Sunday with tornadoes posing the greatest risk in northern Arkansas and strong winds, hail, and tornadoes possible near St. Louis, Missouri. Severe thunderstorm warnings were issued across Arkansas and Missouri, with rainfall totals of 3 to 5 inches expected.
