West Virginia University at Parkersburg (WVUP) has introduced a new Radiology Technology program, set to begin in May with an accelerated 16-month curriculum. Erin Martin, the program director, shares her personal journey from education major to healthcare professional, inspired by her own health experiences during pregnancy. Martin is excited to combine her passion for education and healthcare by teaching future radiologic technologists.
Students in the program will gain hands-on experience at WVU Medicine, providing clinical exposure in various settings including routine exams, trauma situations, and specialized areas like the cardiac cath lab. Prerequisites for admission include completing Biology 109, scoring 75 or higher on the HESI entrance exam, job shadowing at Camden Clark Medical Center, and maintaining a minimum 2.0 GPA. Applications can be found at the WVUP Nursing Office or online.
The program, which is eligible for the WV Invests grant and Ohio reciprocity agreement, aims to provide an affordable pathway for students seeking careers in healthcare. Those interested can contact admissions@wvup.edu or call 304-424-8310 for more information. Martin’s enthusiasm for teaching future radiologic technologists reflects her dedication to making a difference in people’s lives through healthcare. With the launch of this program, WVUP aims to train and empower the next generation of healthcare professionals in the field of radiology technology.
