Kansas City firefighters responded to a large building fire at a maintenance building owned by Suburban Lawn and Garden on Wednesday night. The fire, located near 138th Street and Wyandotte Street, was reported just after 7:20 p.m. According to Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins, crews managed to get the fire under control by 9 p.m. but are still working to extinguish hot spots. The fire was fueled by various tanks containing different fuel sources, leading to secondary explosions inside the structure. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Kansas City Fire Department. FOX4 has a team on the scene and will provide updates as new information emerges.
