A tornado with wind speeds estimated at EF2 tore through a neighborhood in Villa Ridge, Missouri, causing extensive damage to homes and vehicles. National Weather Service surveyor Ben Herzog assessed the damage and classified the storm. Joy Azddou and her family narrowly escaped harm by sheltering in their basement as the tornado destroyed their home. The family did not have renters’ insurance and now faces uncertainty about rebuilding. A neighbor, Isaac Purnell, also experienced the terrifying impact of the tornado, with the roof of his home being ripped off while his family took cover. Unfortunately, the storm has resulted in the tragic deaths of 12 people across the state. The community is left devastated and facing challenges as they begin to recover from the destruction caused by the tornado. The event serves as a reminder of the importance of being prepared for severe weather and having insurance coverage in place in case of such disasters.
