‘Anora,’ ‘The Brutalist,’ ‘Wicked,’ ‘Emilia Pérez’ and other films awarded at the Academy Awards


The 97th Annual Academy Awards, hosted by Conan O’Brien, awarded Sean Baker’s film “Anora” with five awards including Best Picture. Other winners included Jacques Audiard for Directing for “Emilia Pérez,” Adrien Brody for Actor in a Leading Role in “The Brutalist,” and Cynthia Erivo for Actress in a Leading Role in “Wicked.” Yura Borisov won Actor in a Supporting Role for “Anora,” and Monica Barbaro won Actress in a Supporting Role for “A Complete Unknown.” The screenplay awards went to James Mangold and Jay Cocks for “A Complete Unknown” for Writing (Adapted Screenplay) and Sean Baker for “Anora” for Writing (Original Screenplay). In other categories, “Flow” won for Animated Feature Film, “Beautiful Men” won for Animated Short Film, and “The Brutalist” won for Cinematography. “A Different Man” won for Makeup and Hairstyling, and “El Mal” from “Emilia Pérez” won for Music (Original Song). Other winners included “Black Box Diaries” for Documentary Feature Film, “Death by Numbers” for Documentary Short Film, and “I’m Still Here” for International Feature Film. “Wicked” and “Dune: Part Two” were recognized in multiple categories for Production Design, Sound, and Visual Effects.
