Tragedy struck a rural community in Butler, Missouri, as the Bates County Sheriff’s Office investigates a house fire that claimed the lives of two children. The incident occurred late Saturday night when an explosion and fire were reported at a rural property. Crews arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames, with only three out of the five residents managing to escape. Unfortunately, two 2-year-olds were unable to be rescued and were pronounced dead at the scene. The other three occupants were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Sheriff Anderson expressed condolences to the families and urged the community to keep them in their prayers. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by both the Bates County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office.
