Investigation Underway into Fatal Shooting by KCPD Officer in Northland Area, Conducted by MSHP


A shooting involving a Kansas City police officer in the Northland area of Kansas City, Missouri is being investigated by the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP). The incident occurred just before 9 p.m. on Thursday in the area of NW 70th Terrace and N. Robinhood Lane. The 57-year-old male suspect involved in the incident has been confirmed dead. One officer sustained minor injuries during the incident. The shooting occurred after officers responded to a domestic assault call at the location earlier in the evening. Following interviews with the victim, officers returned to the scene to arrest the suspect. The suspect, armed with a knife, advanced towards the officers, leading to one of them firing their weapon and striking the suspect. MSHP is continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the shooting. FOX4 is on the scene and will provide updates as more information becomes available.
