Mudslide sweeps Buffalo Trace whiskey distillery into Kentucky River

A cargo container and makeshift office belonging to a centuries-old whiskey maker in Kentucky slid into the Kentucky River due to a weather-related mudslide on the northeast side of Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort. Luckily, no one was near the area at the time of the mudslide, and the affected property has been roped off for safety. The distillery will work with professionals to ensure proper cleanup, but production and tours have not been affected. Buffalo Trace Distillery, with roots dating back to 1771, has faced various challenges over its long history, including floods, fires, tornadoes, and Prohibition. In recent winter weather-related incidents, at least 22 people have died in Kentucky according to Gov. Andy Beshear.
