2020 Investigation by Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Reveals No Sign of Voter Fraud

After an extensive investigation spanning 880 hours and costing $88,000, the Johnson County, Kansas Sheriff’s Office announced that they found no evidence of voter fraud in the 2020 election. The investigation was initiated in response to 100 allegations of election fraud that former Sheriff Calvin Hayden received in September 2021. Despite conducting 24/7 ballot box surveillance and allocating $50,000 for software to aid in the investigation, the sheriff’s office did not find any corroborating evidence to support the claims.

The only case submitted to the Johnson County District Attorney’s Office for consideration, an allegation of obstructing voting privilege, was declined for prosecution. The investigation officially closed on Jan. 30, with no evidence of fraud found. Hayden, who faced significant backlash for the handling of the investigation, ultimately lost his position in the 2024 Republican primary. The current Sheriff Roberson emphasized the department’s commitment to ensuring safety, fairness, and respect for every individual despite the outcome of the investigation.
