The Kansas City Figure Skating Club paid tribute to the 28 members of the figure skating community who were killed in a recent air crash by holding a moment of silence and taking a lap around the rink before practice. The tragedy has deeply affected the skaters, coaches, and families involved, many of whom personally knew someone onboard the plane. The young athletes killed in the crash were aspiring Olympians returning from a national development camp. In response to the tragedy, skaters are showing support by writing messages on cards to be sent to the affected clubs. Despite the grief, the figure skating community is coming together to support each other during this difficult time. U.S. Figure Skating has set up a family support fund to help those impacted by the crash. Donations can be made to the fund to support those affected by this tragic event.
