Man from Kansas City charged in connection with the fatal shooting of three women

Kansas City man Armando Navarro Jr. is facing multiple charges including three counts of first-degree murder for shooting and killing three women inside a Northland home. The incident occurred early Sunday morning, and Navarro has also been charged with armed criminal action, assault, and animal abuse. The victims were identified as Jodie Hopcus, Sherri Duncan, and Hailey Hopcus.

According to court documents, Navarro and one of the victims were involved in a fight before the shooting occurred. After being asked to leave, Navarro returned with a gun and knife, shooting at the women and the family dog. One victim shielded her daughter from Navarro, and another victim was shot in the arm while trying to help. Navarro was later apprehended in Abilene, Kansas, and is currently being held without bond.

The case is being handled by the Kansas City Police Department, and prosecutors may seek the death penalty for Navarro. The surviving victim’s testimony, along with a call from Navarro’s son, played a significant role in the arrest and charging of Navarro.
