Sporting KC has made history in the MLS by acquiring 25-year-old striker Dejan Joveljic in the league’s first-ever cash-for-player trade. The Serbian international joins the team on a three-year deal through 2027, coming from the LA Galaxy in exchange for $4 million.
Joveljic arrives at Sporting KC after an impressive 2024 season with the Galaxy, where he set the Serbian international record with 21 goals and eight assists. His performance included six goals in the MLS Cup Playoffs, helping the Galaxy secure victory. His goal-scoring abilities made him the second-highest scorer in the 2024 MLS season.
Sporting KC is preparing for the upcoming 2025 MLS season, which kicks off on February 18 with a match against Miami CF at Children’s Mercy Park. The addition of Joveljic to the team’s roster brings a new level of talent and skill, providing fans with high hopes for the upcoming season.
