The University of Kansas has announced their athletes of the week for Jan. 27-Feb. 2. David Coit from the men’s basketball team was selected for breaking out of a scoring slump and averaging 10 points per game while shooting 40% from beyond the arc. He also played significant minutes in both games, a notable achievement since December. Mason Meinershagen, a sophomore in track and field, set a new indoor record in the women’s pole vault by clearing 4.47 meters at an invitational in Missouri. This mark placed her at No. 4 in the nation, according to KU’s press release. The selections are part of a weekly recognition by the Journal-World staff, with one male and one female athlete chosen from KU’s winter and spring sports teams. The athletes are chosen based on their outstanding performances during the week. The University of Kansas sports teams are showcasing exceptional talent and dedication as they compete in their respective seasons.
