Food science and technology contest at Versailles FFA


On January 25, the Versailles FFA Food Science team participated in the State FFA Food Science and Technology Contest at The Ohio State University. The team, consisting of Gabe McGlinch, Greta Broering, Eden Barga, and Ruthie Smith, placed ninth overall in the state competition. The contest included various tasks such as identifying aromas, conducting tests, taking written exams on food quality and safety, addressing safety concerns from customer complaints, solving math problems, and identifying food processing tools. In addition, students had to develop a product plan for a protein bar within one hour.
The Versailles FFA team earned the opportunity to compete at the state level after finishing second in the district competition. Eden Barga led the team, guiding them through various challenges in the competition. Despite stiff competition from schools across the state, the Versailles team performed admirably, showcasing their skills and knowledge in the field of food science. The team’s dedication and hard work paid off as they secured a top-ten finish in the prestigious state contest.
Overall, the Versailles FFA Food Science team demonstrated their proficiency in various aspects of food science and technology, highlighting their commitment to excellence in the field. Congratulations to the team members, as well as their advisor and supporters, for their outstanding achievement in the State FFA Food Science and Technology Contest.
