Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas has revealed that there will not be a public rally for fans if the Chiefs complete the three-peat, a decision made in light of the tragic post-victory rally shooting that occurred last year. This change comes as the city works to ensure the safety of attendees and honor the memory of those affected by the shooting.
Instead of a public rally, there will be a private event at Arrowhead Stadium for players, coaches, their families, and dignitaries. The parade route will also be altered to travel northbound on Grand Blvd. The city is considering implementing park-and-ride options for attendees.
Mayor Lucas emphasized the city’s commitment to hosting celebrations safely and noted that plans are still being finalized. He stressed that large cities like Kansas City do big things and will continue to celebrate their champions, albeit with necessary precautions in place. The decision to forego a public rally demonstrates the city’s dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents and visitors.
