Kansas State secures surprise 80-61 victory over No. 3 Iowa State with well-distributed scoring

Kansas State pulled off a major upset on Saturday, defeating No. 3 Iowa State 80-61 on the road. Dug McDaniel led the Wildcats with 20 points, supported by strong performances from Coleman Hawkins and Brendan Hausen. This victory ended Kansas State’s 15-game road losing streak and marked their third consecutive win overall. The Cyclones, on the other hand, saw their 29-game home winning streak come to an end.

Despite a late 13-0 run by Iowa State, a crucial 3-pointer from Hausen sealed the deal for Kansas State. The Wildcats committed 22 fouls but managed to overcome them and secure the upset. This win also marked Kansas State’s first road victory against a top-five team since 2017.

Moving forward, Iowa State will face TCU next Saturday while Kansas State will take on Arizona State on Tuesday night. This victory has certainly put Kansas State back on the map and will be a game to remember for Wildcats fans.
