Wichita State women’s tennis team faced a tough defeat on the road against Kansas Jayhawks with a score of 5-2 on Friday. Despite a competitive singles match with four games being decided in third sets, the Shockers were unable to capitalize on scoring opportunities to turn the tide fully. Key losses included Roselli and Nikolenko at court one and court six respectively. Kudryavtseva also lost in the first of four three-set bouts, giving KU the lead. The team managed to get on the board with Wang’s win at court two, but ultimately the Jayhawks secured the victory. The Shockers are now 1-4 for the year while Kansas remains undefeated at 4-0. Next, the team will travel to Manhattan, Kansas to face Kansas State Wildcats at Body First Tennis Center on Saturday at noon.
