Leavitt’s comments after the rescinding of the memo led to further confusion. Moreover, OMB’s decision to rescind the memo was praised by Senate Appropriations Committee members. The White House assured that key programs like Social Security and Medicaid would not be affected by the freeze. Multiple lawsuits were filed to block the funding pause, resulting in temporary holds and court hearings. The situation remains unresolved as judges deliberate on the issue.
