Members of Kansas’ congressional delegation, including GOP senators Roger Marshall and Jerry Moran, as well as Republican House representatives Ron Estes, Tracey Mann, Derek Schmidt, and Democrat Sharice Davids, have expressed their condolences and vowed to support the families affected by the tragic collision between a Black Hawk helicopter and an American Airlines PSA commercial jet. The crash, which left no survivors, occurred as the jet was moments away from landing at Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington D.C.
The lawmakers stated that the aviation and manufacturing community in South Central Kansas, where the flight originated, would feel the pain of this catastrophe for years to come. They praised the first responders and rescue crews who worked tirelessly through the night and promised to work towards finding answers for the grieving families and ensuring that such a tragedy does not happen again.
President Donald Trump, along with Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, also pledged to provide swift answers and support to the families affected by the crash. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident, and American Airlines has offered support for loved ones seeking information about the passengers and crew members aboard the plane. U.S. officials are looking into why the Black Hawk helicopter crossed paths with the descending plane, while noting that such mutual patterns between aircraft are not uncommon.
The entire Kansas congressional delegation is committed to supporting and providing answers to the families affected by this tragedy.
