A deadly apartment fire in Independence, Missouri claimed the lives of four people, including two children, and left more than 30 others displaced. The community has rallied together to support those affected by the tragedy.
Local businesses, including Olahrama 28 Family Fun Skate Center, have been organizing events to raise funds and collect donations for the victims. Hundreds of people attended a fundraising event at the skating rink, where donations of toys, clothes, and other essentials were collected.
Business owner Connie Resendez, who herself lost everything in Hurricane Katrina, is using her kitchen to prepare hot meals for displaced families. Other neighboring businesses, such as Yummy’s Donut Palace and Kimberly’s Paw Spa, are also stepping up to support the victims.
In addition, Blue Springs Schools are collecting monetary donations to purchase gift cards for the displaced families. The community is pulling together to offer support and aid to those affected by the tragic fire in Independence.
