University of Kansas track and field and cross-country coach Stanley Redwine has signed a four-year contract extension, making him the longest-tenured head coach on the KU campus. The extension keeps Redwine under contract through the end of the 2029 season and recognizes his excellence in the sport, with five Big 12 coach of the year honors and a national title for the KU women’s track and field team in 2013.
Redwine, who also coached the United States men’s team at the 2024 Summer Olympics, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to continue leading the track and field programs at Kansas. The extension, according to Redwine, reflects the hard work and dedication of the coaches, staff, and student-athletes in growing the program.
During the 2024 track season, many KU student-athletes received All-American honors, with standout performances from distance runner Chandler Gibbens, high jumper Devin Loudermilk, and pole vaulters Mason Meinershagen and Clayton Simms. Most of these athletes are still competing in the ongoing 2025 season, currently in its indoor phase.
The contract extension for Redwine follows similar extensions for other coaches at KU, highlighting the university’s commitment to maintaining a strong athletic program. The next event for the KU track team is the Dr. Rick McGuire Invitational at Missouri on January 31.
