Local inventor Mark Gaalswyk, founder and CEO of Easy Automation, Inc., has developed a new prototype that can instantly clean up lakes and other bodies of water using Easy NanoVoid Technology. Gaalswyk, who founded Easy Automation in 1986 and Easy Energy Systems in 2006, was inspired by the problems with algae in local lakes and the global demand for clean water. The technology uses minuscule bubbles to clean water without the need for chemicals or filters.
Nano bubbles work by reducing the surface tension of water, creating a void that interacts with algae and bacteria to clean the water. Gaalswyk’s technology can fit 28,000 bubbles in the pin of a needle and has been tested by the University of Minnesota, showing that 1.67 trillion bubbles can be put in a gallon of water. The oxygen bubbles specifically target algae, promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria that consume algae and eliminate odor.
The technology has been successfully tested on local ponds and lakes, as well as in swimming pools, with promising results. Gaalswyk has developed different sizes of units to cater to various needs and price points, with the smallest unit able to treat 16,000 gallons of water in an hour. The technology has also shown potential for clearing oil spills using nitrogen bubbles.
Gaalswyk’s invention has generated interest from other states and countries, including Africa, where there is a need for clean water solutions. Manufacturing of the products is underway in Minnesota, and Gaalswyk hopes that the local community will take pride in the transformative technology developed in their own backyard.
