Anna Heetman spoke about her tenant union’s rent strike and small victories achieved through collective action. Another speaker, Croatia Black, urged adults to correct inherited wrongs like white supremacy and gender violence.
Trump signed multiple executive orders on his first day, fueling the protesters’ resolve against policies like ending birthright citizenship and restricting recognition of genders. Black emphasized the need to resist and make changes in the face of darkness, highlighting the importance of unity and humanity.
