SLB and Star Energy Geothermal, a subsidiary of Barito Renewables, have announced a collaboration to advance technologies for geothermal asset development. This partnership will leverage Star Energy Geothermal’s expertise with SLB’s experience in energy technology solutions. By working together, they aim to deploy technologies that will enhance the economics and recovery rates of geothermal projects.
The collaboration will focus on subsurface characterization, drilling, and production of geothermal assets. By combining SLB’s breadth of technologies with Star Energy Geothermal’s geothermal resource development and operations knowledge, they hope to address technical and economic challenges hindering the wider development of geothermal projects globally.
Irlan Amir, vice president of Renewables and Energy Efficiency at SLB, highlighted the importance of collaborating with customers to focus on impactful use cases and deliver groundbreaking technologies that can lower project risks in the geothermal industry. Meanwhile, Hendra Soetjipto Tan, president director of Barito Renewables and group CEO of Star Energy Geothermal, expressed confidence that this collaboration will help them achieve their vision of becoming a leading geothermal company with enhanced efficiency and economics in their current and future assets.
