Patriots safety Jabrill Peppers is set to go on trial on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and possession of cocaine after allegedly pushing his girlfriend’s head into a wall and choking her multiple times during an altercation in October. He was placed on the commissioner’s exempt list following the incident, missing seven games before being removed from the list, but dealing with foot and hamstring injuries. Peppers, who signed an extension with the Patriots over the summer, had previously played for the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants. His criminal case is still being reviewed by the NFL, but he is currently under contract with the Patriots through 2027. Despite his legal troubles, Peppers has been able to return to play for the Patriots.
