Kansas State University’s star forward Ayoka Lee will be out indefinitely after suffering a fractured foot during a game against Arizona State. X-rays and an MRI confirmed the injury, with the possibility of Lee returning before the end of the regular season uncertain. Lee, who is averaging 16.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, holds various school records and ranks sixth on the all-time Big 12 scoring list. Known for her impressive scoring abilities, Lee set the NCAA record for points in a game with 61 against Oklahoma in January 2022. Despite missing the 2022-23 season due to a knee injury, she came back strong last season with an average of 19.7 points and 8.6 rebounds. Kansas State, currently ranked No. 10 with a 19-1 record, will have to adjust their strategy without Lee as they face Colorado on Saturday. The team’s success without their star player remains to be seen as they navigate through the remainder of the regular season. Lee’s absence will undoubtedly be felt on the court, but her resilience and determination suggest that she will come back stronger than ever once she recovers from her injury.
