At least three killed in Russian airstrike on Kyiv

Russian forces carried out a combined drone and missile strike on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, resulting in at least three deaths and damage to a metro station and water pipe. The attack also wounded three people. The military administration chief reported four deaths while police confirmed three. The city’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, described the damage caused by the attack, which included a flooded street and a van destroyed in front of the damaged metro station.

Parliamentary ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets condemned the attack, stating that Russian forces initially launched drones followed by a ballistic missile strike, highlighting the enemy’s ruthlessness. Russia also targeted the city of Zaporizhzhia, causing injuries and damage to industrial facilities.

The Ukrainian military successfully intercepted and destroyed a significant number of drones and missiles launched by Russia during the overnight attack. This comes after a missile strike on President Zelenskyy’s hometown of Kryvyi Rih, which killed four people and damaged an educational facility. Russia has been conducting regular air strikes on towns and cities beyond the front line of the conflict in Ukraine, targeting critical infrastructure. Moscow has not yet commented on these recent attacks, as they typically deny targeting civilians.
