In Kearney, Missouri, August J. Baanders, 64, has been charged with interference with a legal process after threatening deputies who attempted to seize his property under seven levy orders issued by the Clay County Circuit Court. Baanders, who owns LPG Ventures along with his wife, allegedly drove an 85,000-pound crane toward deputies, prompting them to draw their weapons. The crane stopped just six inches from hitting a patrol vehicle, and Baanders initially began to exit the crane before refusing to come down the ladder. Deputies had to physically remove him from the ladder to take him into custody. Despite the tense situation, no injuries were reported, and Baanders is now being held on a $2,500 bond. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced that the suspect is in custody and is facing charges for his actions. This incident highlights the dangers law enforcement officers face while carrying out their duties to enforce court orders.
