President Joe Biden issued a series of warnings and highlighted the work left to be done in his farewell address to the nation as he prepares to end his 50-year public service career. He emphasized the threats of climate change, artificial intelligence, and a dangerous concentration of power among the ultra-wealthy, warning of the erosion of democracy and basic rights. Biden also called for amending the Constitution to ensure that no president is immune from crimes committed while in office.
During his term, Biden faced challenges both globally and domestically and is leaving the Oval Office with low approval ratings as former President Donald Trump prepares to regain power. Biden highlighted some of his major accomplishments, including a ceasefire and hostage deal between Israel and Hamas, infrastructure, climate, and clean energy initiatives, and the creation of nearly 17 million new jobs. He also called for tax code revisions, Supreme Court term limits, and a ban on lawmakers trading stock while in Congress.
Biden’s farewell address was attended by his family and Vice President Kamala Harris. He expressed his desire for America’s success and emphasized the importance of a smooth transition of power to the incoming administration.
