Southeast Community College unveiled its new Sandhills Global Technology Center in Lincoln on Wednesday, showcasing a $37 million state-of-the-art training facility aimed at positioning SCC as a leader in workforce development. The center, a collaboration between SCC, Sandhills Global, and the city of Lincoln, is expected to revolutionize the tech industry in Nebraska.
Dr. Paul Illich, president of SCC, expressed excitement about the partnership and the opportunities the center will provide for training and developing the skilled workforce needed for the region to thrive. The facility, which was designed with industry input, faculty insights, and student needs in mind, will offer programs in Biotechnology, Computer Information Technology, Design & Drafting, and Electronic Systems.
At 65,000 square feet, the center also includes 5,000 square feet dedicated to industry partner space, fostering collaboration between students and businesses. Classes will begin in the building on Jan. 21, marking the start of a new era for SCC and its commitment to providing top-notch education for students pursuing careers in technology.
