Joe’s Blog: Brace Yourself for Arctic Air Approaching (THU-1/16)

Temperatures in the Kansas City region are on the rise, with highs expected to reach the mid-40s today and possibly even the mid-50s in some areas. This marks the first time in two weeks that temperatures will be above average. However, the good weather won’t last long, as Arctic air is moving southward and will bring colder temperatures over the weekend and into early next week. Despite the drop in temperatures, little to no snow accumulation is expected in the region.

As temperatures fluctuate, meteorologist Joe Lauria predicts that the weather pattern will continue to bring ups and downs for the rest of the month. Although there are no significant snowstorms in the forecast, there may be some snow towards the end of January. Lauria has identified mid-February as a more common time for significant snowfall in Kansas City based on historical data. Overall, the region can expect to experience a variety of weather changes in the coming weeks.
