Voters in the Kansas City area had the opportunity to hear from both supporters and opponents of Amendment 3 on Missouri ballots, which seeks to restore abortion access up until fetal viability. Supporters organized volunteers to canvass neighborhoods and explain the amendment, while opponents held forums discouraging its passage.
Dr. Devika Maulik, a specialist in high-risk pregnancies, highlighted the importance of allowing physicians and families to make decisions regarding abortion. Mark Rodriguez, initially confused by the ballot language, found clarity after speaking with Maulik.
The group Coalition Life held a forum in Liberty to encourage voters to reject Amendment 3, with similar events taking place across the state. Hanna Sims, sharing her personal story at a previous event, emphasized the impact of choosing adoption over abortion.
Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes is advocating for increased access to abortion, citing the majority of Missourians’ support for such measures. The goal is to ensure that people vote in the upcoming election.
