Romanian Men Charged with Stealing from U.S. Stores Arrested in Kansas City Metro Area
Two men from Romania, Crisan Vasile and Stefan Florin, have been charged with stealing after they were caught stealing smoke detectors from various stores across the United States, including a Home Depot in the Kansas City metro area. Surveillance footage captured Vasile and Florin loading over 100 boxes of smoke detectors into a shopping cart at the Home Depot. While one of the men distracted a store employee, the other paid for lesser items with a gift card. The stolen smoke detectors had a value of $5,180.
After being alerted by an asset protection officer at Home Depot, the two men were arrested in Chesterfield, Missouri, on October 14, 2024, for stealing smoke detectors from a Lowe’s store. They are now facing charges of stealing. This incident highlights the importance of vigilant store employees and security measures in preventing thefts.
