Several businesses in the Kansas City metro area, including Seven Swans Creperie, La Bodega, Garden House Cafe, and Sagebrush Cocktail Bar, were broken into overnight, leading business owners to call for change. Seven Swans Creperie shared on social media that their downtown Kansas City location was broken into, with cash, a safe, and their beloved baby swan decorations stolen. This comes at a difficult time as KC Restaurant Week is underway, with Seven Swans also celebrating its anniversary.
La Bodega, hit for the third time in six weeks, called for immediate changes from city leadership to prevent further break-ins. Other businesses like Garden House Cafe were able to reopen quickly after their break-ins and still received strong support from the community. Sagebrush Cocktail Bar urged customers to support local businesses in light of the break-ins. The incidents have left business owners in the area feeling stunned and saddened, with calls for action to address the ongoing issue of break-ins impacting the community.
