Kansas Attorney General’s Office Investigates Neosho County Attorney for Alleged Misconduct
Linus Thuston, a rural Kansas prosecutor, is under investigation for allegedly pressuring approximately 50 women to send him nude photos, sharing confidential police information, and advising a client to commit a home invasion. The Kansas Attorney General’s Office has been aware of these allegations for over a year.
Thuston admitted to soliciting nude photos from a woman he considered a confidential informant but denied sharing a “hot list” of police surveillance targets. Neosho County Sheriff Greg Taylor’s investigation revealed that Thuston had requested nude photos from numerous private practice clients and even paid one woman with a county credit card.
Thuston’s unorthodox legal practices and conflicts of interest between his public and private work have raised concerns among county officials. Despite the evidence against him, Thuston continues to serve as the county attorney, representing clients in civil cases and serving as a defense attorney in neighboring counties.
New allegations emerged in an opioid drug case where Thuston reportedly leaked sensitive police information to a woman who had sent him nude photos. Police ceased communication with Thuston after discovering the leak of the “hot list.”
Thuston maintains that he only provided public information, but evidence suggests otherwise. The Kansas Attorney General’s Office is now responsible for determining whether criminal charges will be filed against Thuston for his alleged misconduct.
In a recent interview, Thuston refused to address the allegations and suggested that the Attorney General’s Office would handle the situation. The community awaits the outcome of the investigation to determine the fate of the controversial county attorney.
