Celebrities and Billionaires Support California Wildfire Relief Efforts with Generous Donations

Several wildfires are raging across Los Angeles County, prompting the evacuation of nearly 200,000 people and threatening to become some of the costliest in U.S. history. In response, celebrities have stepped up to donate money and supplies to relief efforts that are still in their early stages. Paris Hilton launched an emergency fund through her nonprofit, 11:11 Media Impact, and donated $100,000, matching additional donations up to another $100,000. Other celebrities, such as Jamie Lee Curtis and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have also made significant contributions to support those affected by the fires.

Companies like Disney, Paramount, Apple, FanDuel, and Fox Corp. have pledged millions of dollars to aid relief efforts through various organizations such as the American Red Cross and the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. The NFL is also contributing to the cause by selling team-specific merchandise to benefit the LAFD Foundation. Additionally, local businesses have turned into pop-up shops to provide clothing and other essentials to displaced families.

The wildfires, which have burned thousands of acres and claimed at least 10 lives, have devastated communities in Los Angeles, including the Pacific Palisades area where many celebrities reside. The fires started on Wednesday, and the cause of some, like the Kenneth fire, is suspected to be arson. The California Community Foundations Wildlife Recovery Fund has raised $2.5 million from 4,000 donors, showcasing the outpouring of support from the community in response to the crisis.
