Kansas City, Missouri is preparing for another round of possible snowfall while still dealing with the aftermath of last weekend’s blizzard. Public works crews have been working tirelessly to clear snow-packed streets, with over 75% of the work completed but challenges still remaining in some neighborhoods. Heavy salting is being done to clear roads effectively.
City Manager Brian Platt has assured residents that crews will be working around the clock until all the snow is removed, with extra attention being given to northland neighborhoods with packed snow. Residents are urged to park in driveways to allow plows and salt trucks to clear streets effectively.
Despite efforts by city crews, some residents like Elizabeth Thornton are taking matters into their own hands, using shovels to clear the snow themselves. Thornton expressed frustration at the slow progress and urged stronger enforcement of snow ordinances to ensure safer roads. The city is also conducting a haul-out operation downtown to remove snow piles and clear pedestrian areas.
