Australian hiker found safe after surviving on muesli bars and berries for two weeks

Hadi Nazari, a 23-year-old Australian student who went missing while hiking in the Kosciuszko National Park, was found alive after surviving for almost two weeks on berries and two muesli bars he found. He had split from his friends on December 26 and was found by a group of hikers about six miles from a command post that had been set up for the search operation. He had been drinking water from a creek and foraging for food around the mountains. Despite the ordeal, he was found in good spirits and great condition.

The search for Nazari involved over 300 rescuers and volunteers who tracked his movements in the mountains. Hope for his survival grew when his belongings were found near a river, followed by a campfire, lighter, camera, and camera bag. On Wednesday, a hiking group heard him calling for help and alerted authorities.

Joshua Dart, a member of the hiking group that found Nazari, mentioned that they had come across the missing person alert but were not actively searching for him. Nazari appeared to have lost track of time and believed it had only been seven days since he went missing. Dart expressed admiration for Nazari’s survival instincts.

Overall, the outcome of Nazari being found alive after almost two weeks lost in the wilderness was described as incredible by New South Wales Police Inspector Josh Broadfoot. The rescue was a testament to Nazari’s resilience and ability to survive under challenging circumstances.
