The Kansas men’s basketball team is set to welcome high-four-star forward Bryson Tiller a semester early as he joins the current team as a freshman at midseason. Tiller, who had been recovering from an ankle injury and had not played this year, will redshirt but will have the opportunity to get a head start on learning the team’s system and expectations. Coach Bill Self believes Tiller’s early arrival will benefit him in many ways, including getting a feel for the team’s style of play and building chemistry with his future teammates.
Tiller was unable to impact his senior season of high school due to his injury, but now has the chance to prepare for his college career by practicing with experienced players who will be leaving the team before he plays his first game. The 6-foot-10 forward from Atlanta played at Pace Academy before joining the Overtime Elite league, where he averaged 12.2 points and 9.4 rebounds during the 2023-24 season.
The team sees Tiller’s early arrival as an opportunity for growth and improvement, with forward Zach Clemence expressing optimism about having a new teammate who can help make the team better each day. Tiller’s early enrollment is a strategic move to maximize his development and integration into the team before he officially begins his college basketball career.
