Johnson County man, Chancie Adams, has been charged with three counts of involuntary manslaughter for a 2020 incident in Stilwell, Kansas where the vehicle he was driving collided with a train, resulting in the death of three people. The collision occurred on private property, with Adams and three other men interested in buying nearby land for recreational use. The families of the deceased men believed they got lost, crossed train tracks, and didn’t see the train coming. While Adams survived the crash, he was in critical condition and under investigation for driving under the influence of alcohol at the time. The Johnson County District Attorney’s Office pursued charges after Adams recovered from his injuries. Adams’ bond has been set at $50,000, and no court date has been scheduled yet.
