Prominent Tyler author Cathy Mounce has released a children’s book titled ‘Pancake, the Texas Cat’ after 30 years in the making. The book, written and illustrated by Mounce, tells the heartwarming true story of her beloved pet Pancake. The small gray kitten with Western style and “cattitude” sports a red bandana as she navigates through life in Texas, teaching the moral of being true to oneself.

Targeted at children ages 2 to 10, the 36-page paperback is available on Amazon for $15.95 and as a Kindle e-Book for $9.99. Mounce, a native Texan with a passion for storytelling, drew inspiration from her surroundings and upbringing. Having worked in journalism and other artistic endeavors, Mounce’s creativity shines through in her debut book.

Readers can meet the author at a book signing event on Dec. 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Rose City Art Gallery in Tyler. Mounce’s writing journey has been fueled by a love for Texas’ wild beauty and history, instilled in her by her educator parents. The book is a testament to her belief that everyone, even a small cat like Pancake, has the power to make a difference and bring joy to others.

For a heartwarming tale that celebrates individuality and self-acceptance, ‘Pancake, the Texas Cat’ promises to delight young readers and inspire them to embrace their unique qualities with confidence and pride.
