New York Woman Nears Solution to 44-Year-Old Mystery Surrounding Grandparents’ Disappearance

Christine Heller Seaman, a woman from New York, has been haunted by the disappearance of her grandparents, Catherine and Charles Romer, for 44 years. The couple went missing in 1980 while traveling home from Miami Beach in their 1978 Lincoln Continental. Catherine was reportedly wearing $81,000 worth of jewelry at the time of their disappearance, sparking concerns of foul play. Hotel employees in Georgia grew concerned when the couple failed to return from a hotel stay in Brunswick.

Recently, a submerged car resembling the Romer’s Lincoln Continental was discovered in a Georgia pond, leading to the recovery of a human bone and personal belongings inside. Although the remains have not yet been identified as belonging to the Romers, Seaman and her family are finding closure and resolution in the discovery. They are now able to celebrate the lives of Catherine and Charles, rather than living in dread and sorrow.

Seaman remembers her grandmother as the “life of the party” who loved thoroughbred racing and traveling with her granddaughters. Catherine was a significant presence in the family and made everyone feel special. Charles was described as a kind and generous man.

Seaman expressed gratitude towards investigators and a diving team from Florida who helped uncover the mystery of her grandparents’ disappearance. Despite the shock of these recent developments, the family is thankful for the closure and peace of mind that comes with potentially solving this long-standing mystery.
