In an epic battle between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, the Bulldogs pulled off an improbable fourth-quarter comeback to secure a 44-42 victory in the eighth overtime. Freshman Nate Frazier sealed the win with a 2-point conversion run. Despite falling behind 17-0 at halftime, the Bulldogs, now 10-2, managed to secure a possibly crucial win for a College Football Playoff spot.
Quarterback Carson Beck threw five touchdown passes, two of which came in overtime, in a game where the Bulldogs trailed until the end of regulation. Georgia Tech, led by quarterback Haynes King, put up a fierce fight, with King scoring three rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns. However, the Yellow Jackets still suffered their seventh straight loss to the Bulldogs in a game that ended just after midnight.
The game was the longest in SEC history and nearly broke the record for the longest FBS game. It was a back-and-forth battle in the overtimes, with both Beck and King matching each other with touchdown passes and runs. The game finally came to an end when Frazier ran in the game-winning 2-point conversion in the eighth overtime.
The Bulldogs’ defense played a crucial role in the comeback, forcing turnovers that led to tying scores in regulation. Despite the intense battle, Georgia ultimately emerged victorious in a game for the ages that will be remembered for years to come.
