The Iowa and Kansas women’s basketball teams secured victories in regional matchups on Thursday, while Iowa State, UNI, and Drake all suffered losses.
In the Cancun Challenge, No. 22 Iowa emerged victorious with a 69-62 win over Rhode Island. The Hawkeyes put up a strong performance to outlast their opponents.
Iowa State faced a tough challenge against No. 4 South Carolina in the Fort Myers Tip-Off and fell short with a 76-36 loss. The Cyclones struggled to keep up with the powerful South Carolina team.
UNI battled it out against Auburn in the Paradise Jam but came up just short with a 65-64 loss. The Panthers fought hard, but ultimately, Auburn prevailed in a close game.
Drake went up against Wyoming in the San Juan Shootout and couldn’t maintain their momentum, falling 71-57. The Cowgirls dominated in the second half to secure the victory.
Kansas emerged victorious in their matchup against Pittsburgh in the Paradise Jam with a final score of 59-53. The Jayhawks showcased a strong fourth-quarter performance to secure the win.
