On Thanksgiving, multiple members of Connecticut’s congressional delegation, including Democratic Reps. Jim Himes, Jahana Hayes, Joe Courtney, and John Larson, as well as Sen. Chris Murphy, received bomb threats at their homes. These threats were part of a coordinated effort targeting public figures. No bombs were ultimately found in any of the locations, but local and state police responded to the threats. The FBI and U.S. Capitol Police did not immediately respond to requests for comment, and the incidents are still under investigation. The threats come after a rise in incidents targeting members of Congress, with the Capitol Police investigating over 8,000 threats last year. The recent threats also follow similar incidents targeting President-elect Donald Trump’s planned administration officials earlier in the week. Law enforcement officials are working to identify the individuals responsible for the threats and ensure they face consequences for their actions. The targeted members of Congress expressed gratitude for law enforcement’s quick response and emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and civility in the country during the holiday season.
