The Kansas City Chiefs have made a significant acquisition by trading for New England Patriots pass-rusher Josh Uche. According to reports from NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, the Chiefs sent a 2026 sixth-round draft pick to the Patriots in exchange for Uche. The move comes after Uche turned down more lucrative offers as a free agent to re-sign with the Patriots earlier this year.
Uche, who was the 60th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, has spent his entire career with the Patriots. In his breakout season in 2022, Uche recorded a career-high 11.5 sacks along with 20.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and 34 quarterback hits. He was a key contributor to the Patriots’ defense, earning AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors for his performance against the Arizona Cardinals.
The Chiefs view Uche as a valuable addition to their roster, especially given his relatively affordable contract of $3 million for the upcoming season. Uche is expected to make his debut for the Chiefs in their upcoming Monday Night Football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With Uche’s proven ability to get to the quarterback and disrupt opposing offenses, the Chiefs are hopeful that he will make a seamless transition and provide a boost to their defense for the remainder of the season.
