The campaign spokesperson did not comment on the report, while an Army spokesperson stated that the investigation was ongoing at the time. The Army had previously considered the matter closed, despite the worker being pushed aside by the campaign aide. The incident raised concerns over political campaign activities in military cemeteries. Trump has faced criticism for comments allegedly made by former chief of staff John Kelly, accusing him of fascist tendencies and praising Hitler. Trump denied making these remarks.
