Big 12 Power Rankings: Kansas moves up while TCU makes significant leap

In the latest Big 12 power rankings, Iowa State and BYU maintain their positions at the top, with Iowa State receiving 10 first-place votes and BYU getting six. TCU made the biggest move, climbing from 14th to ninth after beating Utah. Kansas rose two spots after its first conference victory over Houston. Meanwhile, Houston dropped to last place among the 16 teams after a two-week reprieve.

Kansas State remained third, while Colorado and Cincinnati entered the top five. Kansas State is 6-1 for the first time since 2014, with a matchup against KU upcoming. Colorado scored a decisive victory over Arizona, winning three consecutive road games for the first time since 1996.

Cincinnati scored all its points in the first half against Arizona State, with the defense holding strong despite the opponent’s two touchdowns. TCU’s defense shined in a win against Utah, holding them to season lows in yards, rushing yards, and points.

On the other hand, Houston struggled in a loss to Kansas, giving up their highest point total of the season. Injuries and defensive lapses plagued Oklahoma State in a loss to BYU. The power rankings showcase the competitive nature of the Big 12 conference, with teams jockeying for position as the season progresses.
