Voters Reject Election Denial and Roe v. Wade Reversal, Favor Economic Proposals

A recent national NBC News poll shows that voters are less likely to support candidates who deny the results of the 2020 presidential election or support the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade. Instead, voters are more likely to back candidates who are focused on addressing high costs, such as expanding domestic oil and natural gas production, providing a $6,000 federal child tax credit, and taxing large corporations to control inflation. The survey also found that tariffs on goods from all countries are not as popular among voters.

On the topic of immigration, voters tend to support candidates who advocate for policies such as deploying the military to the border to stop illegal drugs and human trafficking, as well as increasing deportations of undocumented immigrants. In terms of abortion, a majority of voters are more likely to support a candidate who is in favor of a federal law restoring a nationwide right to abortion, while overturning Roe v. Wade is unpopular.

The poll also indicates that a candidate’s stance on these issues can impact their support among different demographic groups. While former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are in a close race according to the poll, Trump earns higher marks on handling the cost of living and immigration, while Harris has an advantage on abortion, competency, and representing change. Overall, the survey provides insight into which policies and positions are likely to sway voters in the upcoming election.
